Rosarito, Baja California

Adventure, beach, surf, gastronomy and much more next to San Diego CA

Rosarito has been historically focused on tourism. Its warm Mediterranean climate, sandy beaches and exquisite cuisine have attracted millions of visitors over the years. During the era of Prohibition in the United States (1920-1933), Rosarito saw significant growth because many Americans visited Mexico where the sale of alcohol was legal. It was during this time that big name celebrities like Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Orson Welles and Rita Hayworth visited and stayed in the town of Rosarito.

The town of Puerto Nuevo became famous in the late 50's, south of Rosarito, for its delicious lobster, which has become an icon of the region. In 1995, Rosarito went from being a suburb of Tijuana to a separate municipality. Two years later, Rosarito was placed in the crosshairs of the world to be the headquarters of the filming of the movies like ""Titanic,"" ""Pearl Harbor"" and other films of international stature within the Fox Studios Baja.
